It is well-known that the salicylic acid (SA) and jasmonic acid (JA) signaling pathways play vital roles in plant chemical defense responses, and phloem-feeding insects like BPH tend to induce SA-mediated plant anti-herbivore defense, and NPR1 represents the major regulatory gene involved in SA signaling pathway (Moran and Thompson, 2001; Wasternack and Hause, 2013). This evidence concerns the gene NPR1 and benign prostatic hyperplasia.
