Apoe−/−mice with a deficiency in the γ chain expression of FcγR, and fed with high fat diet, exhibited a limited development and progression of atherosclerosis, suggesting a proatherogenic effect that could be associated with the loss of FcγRI and FcγRIIIA, and the overexpression of the inhibitory FcγRIIB characteristic of this mouse model. This evidence concerns the gene FCGR3A and atherosclerosis.
