The rates of hypertension (p = 0.03) and T2D (p < 0.001), as well as the levels of HbA1c (p = 0.008), LDL cholesterol (p = 0.003), and inflammatory markers such as hsCRP (p = 0.01) and IL-6 (p < 0.001), were significantly higher in patients with stroke than in the control subjects (Table 1).
