Figure 3 shows the ontology term suggester after typing “liver” into the search box. Phenotypes related to the liver are displayed. Results such as “Growth hormone deficiency” and “Ascites” are displayed because they have a connection to the liver—the effects of growth hormone are mediated by insulin-like growth factor, which is produced primarily in the liver; and ascites is commonly associated with liver disease. Many of the returned phenotypes do not have the term liver in their name, but are related to the liver. Here, GH1 is linked to Ascites.
