It is not yet known whether the interaction between calgranulin B and NKCC1 blocks or augments the function of NKCC1, but studies showing that calgranulin B and calprotectin exert pro-apoptotic effects [46–48] may suggest that calgranulin B inhibits the activity of NKCC1 in gastric cancer cells.
