Previous studies have demonstrated that the substrates of Nedd4-2 include ENaC, Navs, and voltage-gated potassium channels.31 In addition, glutamate transporters have been reported to act as substrates of Nedd4-2.27, 28, 29, 30 In addition, PKC regulates the phosphorylation of Nedd4-2 and promotes the endocytosis of GLT-1.27 However, before the present study it was not known whether Nedd4-2 regulates the ubiquitination of glutamate transporters and whether Nedd4-2 could comprise a therapeutic target in PD. The gene discussed is PRRT2; the disease is Parkinson disease.
