Amongst these genetic factors are polymorphisms at loci encoding cytokines and their receptors (Persson et al., 2011), stromal remodelling proteins, such as matrix metalloproteinases (Tang et al., 2008), and prostate stem cell antigen (PSCA), which in the context of gastric pathology, acts as a tumour suppressor gene (Garcia-Gonzalez et al., 2015; Ichikawa et al., 2015; Mou et al., 2015). The gene discussed is PSCA; the disease is neoplasm.
