Comparing the clinical manifestations, laboratory data, and hospital course between the survival and mortality groups, we found that leukopenia (white blood cell < 4,000/μL), thrombocytopenia (platelet count < 100,000/μL), and high CRP levels (CRP > 20 mg/dL) were significant predictors for mortality (Table 2).
