Marked elevations in the soluble interleukin-2 receptor alpha (sIL2Ra), interleukin-6 (IL-6), IL-10, and interferon gamma (IFN-γ) levels occur in CRS in an inflammatory process related to exponential T cell proliferation, with resultant marked elevations in cytokine levels [23]. The gene discussed is IL6; the disease is congenital rubella syndrome.
