In a previous study, we showed that the combination of chemotherapy (Dacarbazine) with the PAF receptor antagonist (WEB2170) reduced the proportion of caspase-3 and COX-2-positive cells within the tumor.24 Thus, it is possible that 'PAF-like' molecules may potentiate tumor cell growth, either by attenuating the cytotoxic effects of radiotherapy or stimulating tumor cell proliferation. This evidence concerns the gene CASP3 and neoplasm.
