Liver weight was highest in response to the HF-EFr-diet, and was associated with a significant progressive increase in intrahepatic triglyceride content as a result of expression of Fasn. These results coincide with previous findings that showed long-term fructose overfeeding increases fat accumulation in adipose tissues and liver, findings associated with an increased risk of diabetes [31,32]. Here, FASN is linked to hydrops fetalis.
