CD44 and neoplasm: Studies have demonstrated the ability of EMT to activate a reversion of tumour cells to a CSC‐like morphology (Mani et al., 2008; Polyak and Weinberg, 2009), with docetaxel‐resistant prostate cancer cells displaying both an EMT and CSC‐like morphology, through increased expression of the CSC marker CD44 (Marín‐Aguilera et al., 2014; Puhr et al., 2012).
