INS and type 2 diabetes mellitus: SGLT2 inhibitors such as dapagliflozin have been shown to cause significant reductions in glycaemia in patients with T2DM, comparable with those produced by other oral agents.3–6 In contrast to existing oral agents, treatment results in weight loss in all groups studied to date, including treatment-naive patients and those where SGLT2 inhibitors were added to other oral agents, insulin alone or a combination of oral agents with insulin.
