In NAFLD, the hepatic manifestation of the MS and plasma inflammatory biomarkers are increased leading to chronic and systemic low-grade inflammatory state, mediators from the liver, including reactive oxygen species (ROS), TNF-a, IL-6, and PAI-1, and other proinflammatory cytokines which were positively associated with the prevalence of colorectal cancer, colonic adenomas, and most probably HPs [31]. Here, SERPINE1 is linked to metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
