1989; Luoma et al. 1995). We previously reported on the damaging effects of increased myocardial AGE formation with ex vivo ischemia‐reperfusion performed under simulated hyperglycemic conditions (Mapanga et al. 2014). As glycated albumin can result in cardiac dysfunction during ischemia‐reperfusion by interfering with the beta 1 adrenoreceptor (Robinet et al. 2007), we hypothesized that albumin glycation results in loss of its cardioprotective properties during ischemia‐reperfusion under conditions of simulated acute hyperglycemia. This evidence concerns the gene ALB and Hyperglycemia.
