In this study, chromothripsis-like patterns occurred in 61% of breast cancer cases in all four subtypes and most frequently involved the 17q12 locus for HER2, which was associated with amplification of HER2. Some cases with co-amplification of HER2 and the pericentromeric region of chromosome 17 also had a chromothripsis-like pattern. Here, ERBB2 is linked to breast carcinoma.
