Synthetic dl-nordihydroguaiaretic acid (i.e., Nordy), a chiral form of the natural 5-LO inhibitor nordihydroguaiaretic acid present in plants, has been shown to markedly reduce the tubule formation by glioma derived endothelial cells, suggesting that the anti-tumour activity of this compound can be attributed at least in part to its ability to interfere with tumour angiogenesis [134]. This evidence concerns the gene ALOX5 and neoplasm.
