The major findings of this study are that PD-linked GTPase domain mutation LRRK2-R1441C causes impairments in the neuritic transport of both mitochondria and lysosomes in SH-SY5Y cells and that inhibition of GTP-binding with recently identified pharmacological inhibitors, 68 and FX2149, improves these transport defects. Here, LRRK2 is linked to Parkinson disease.
