Previous study reported ESM1 as a potential serum marker for early detection of colorectal cancer and later demonstrated that ESM1 could play a role in inhibiting cyclin D1 and cell migration and invasion through modulating G1 phase cell cycle by induction of PTEN and in modulating cell proliferation through the Akt-dependent activation of NF-κB pathway [24]. This evidence concerns the gene ESM1 and colorectal cancer.
