Preliminary analyses suggest that AML samples with high expression levels of NCL mRNAs mainly correspond to acute myeloblastic leukemia with maturation (FAB subtypes M1 and M2) (P = 0.0137**) (data not shown), however such observation cannot explain the association between high expression of NCL and poor prognosis of AML patients. This evidence concerns the gene NUCLEOLIN and acute myeloid leukemia.
