EGFR and neoplasm: Hsu et al. 13 reported that PRMT5-mediated EGFR methylation at R1175 functions in a tumor suppressive manner; this methylation enhances Y1173 phosphorylation and augments its interaction with the SH2-domain-containing protein tyrosine phosphatase 1 (SHP1) which results in attenuation of the EGFR-ERK-dependent pathway.
