Indeed, punctate invadosome-like structures on tumour cells containing cortactin, and F-actin and tumour cell-derived extracellular vesicles were abundant at the cell–substrate interface on FN-rich fibrillar matrices, whereas cortactin staining was more diffuse and localized in lamellipodial-like actin-based protrusions in cells on adsorbed FN (Fig. 3b and Supplementary Fig. 4).
