In agreement with the idea of enhanced and regulated p53 not affecting longevity and aging, the presence of the transgenic p53 or Ink4/Arf allele in mice deficient in telomerase and apolipoprotein E‐null mice does not aggravate the accelerated aging or the atherosclerosis‐prone characteristic phenotypes of these mice (Garcia‐Cao et al., 2006; Sanz‐Gonzalez et al., 2007; Fuster et al., 2012). The gene discussed is CDKN2A; the disease is atherosclerosis.
