ADAMTS9 has been shown to be associated with body fat distribution (Liu et al. 2013) and other anthropometry/metabolic traits including type 2 diabetes (Zeggini et al. 2008; Heid et al. 2010; Randall et al. 2013), as well as age-related macular degeneration (Fritsche et al. 2013) and other traits. The gene discussed is ADAMTS9; the disease is type 2 diabetes mellitus.
