In 2011, Delmore et al. demonstrated that inhibition of BET bromodomains with a selective small-molecule, (+)-JQ1, down-regulated the c-Myc transcriptional signaling network and reduced tumor burden and prolonged survival in vivo indicating that targeting of BET bromodomains is an effective strategy to modulate c-Myc function in multiple myeloma (MM). This evidence concerns the gene MYC and plasma cell myeloma.
