Furthermore, Khongkow and colleagues found paclitaxel targets the FoxM1-KIF20A axis to drive abnormal mitotic spindle formation and mitotic catastrophe, and reported deregulated expression of FoxM1 and KIF20A may confer resistance to paclitaxel in breast cancer; the authors suggested KIF20A may represent a prognostic biomarker and therapeutic target for overcoming taxane resistance in breast cancer [31].
