DDIAS and lung cancer: Recently, DNA damage-induced apoptosis suppressor (DDIAS) has been suggested as a promising therapeutic target in several cancers.16, 17, 18, 19 DDIAS is highly expressed in lung cancer and hepatocellular carcinoma cells and promotes cellular proliferation, colony formation, cellular migration and in vivo tumorigenicity.16, 17, 18 We have previously revealed that DDIAS knockdown induces apoptosis in cancer but not normal cells.16 In addition, we demonstrated that DDIAS knockdown concomitant with exposure to DNA-damaging agents enhances cancer cell death synergistically.
