Among subjects at higher risk of type 2 diabetes, an acute postprandial intervention of MUFA breakfast (72 E%) containing macadamia nut oil showed that several inflammatory genes were upregulated in subcutaneous adipose tissue (MCP-1, IL-1β, IL-6, IL-6R, TNF-α and TNFRSF1A). The gene discussed is IL1B; the disease is type 2 diabetes mellitus.
