Studies performed with experimental models of solid tumors including GBM as well as some hematopoietic cancers have shown that blocking the interaction between CD47 and SIRPα with anti-CD47 monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) promotes phagocytosis in vitro and inhibits tumor growth in vivo [18–23]. Here, CD47 is linked to hematopoietic and lymphoid cell neoplasm.
