A recent study reports that ERK1/2 and AKT activation induced by G protein-coupled receptor and epidermal growth factor receptor is highly associated with elevated expression of MMP-2 and MMP-9 and reduced expression of TIMP-2 and E-cadherin expression in gastric carcinoma, and the association has clinicopathological significance [42]. This evidence concerns the gene AKT1 and gastric carcinoma.
