A set of 77 gene variants single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) were selected and the majority of these variants were common variants previously reported to be associated with either T2D, GDM or with important metabolic traits, such as hemoglobin A1c levels, fasting and 2 hour plasma glucose levels, insulin-resistance indices, proinsulin levels or with other related traits such as the BMI [19]. The gene discussed is INS; the disease is gestational diabetes.
