As IP3R is also known to regulate autophagy and metabolism [1], we also compared serum metabolic profiles among healthy subjects and breast cancer patients with high IP3R and low IP3R. We determined that the NMR-derived fingerprint of the serum metabolic profile is able to help discriminate among breast cancer patients with high and low IP3R expression and healthy controls. The gene discussed is ITPR3; the disease is breast carcinoma.
