Initial case-control analyses showed that IgG antibodies to V1/V2 inversely correlated with risk of HIV-1 infection but in vaccinees with high levels of Env-specific IgA, IgG avidity, antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC), Nab, and Env-specific CD4+ T cells, there was no correlation between these variables and infection [13]. This evidence concerns the gene ERVW-1 and infection.
