Infrared and immunofluorescent imaging was used to assess the effect of ZIKV on neuroinflammation by detecting the expression of Iba1 and GFAP in brain sections from 10 of the mice that succumbed to ZIKV infection (brains from four of the mice were not analyzed due to artifactual damage). The gene discussed is GFAP; the disease is Zika virus infectious disease.
