CPQ and epilepsy: Finally, we observed equally potent anticonvulsive activity of avobenzone in two other bang-sensitive mutants: easily-shocked (avobenzone: 142±82 vs control: 240±120 s, n=40, P=1.0×10−5, L3 electroshock) encoding an ethanolamine kinase (Pavlidis et al., 1994) and slamdance (avobenzone: 178±122 vs control: 272±108 s, n=40, P=6.8×10−5, L3 electroshock) encoding an aminopeptidase (Zhang et al., 2002), indicative that increasing Pum activity might be effective against a broad range of epilepsies.
