In a recent systematic review [32], the pooled specificity of CEA for CRC detection was 88.0% with the conventional cut-off value of 5.0 ng/mL, which is similar to our results’ specificity of 90.0%, suggesting cfDNA LHI to be more suitable for early CRC detection than CEA. The gene discussed is CEACAM5; the disease is colorectal carcinoma.
