AKT1 and cancer: To infer the biological implication of the cancer-related genes, we performed ontology/pathway analyses using the KEGG and DAVID tools [11] and we found that the cancer-related genes in HMA-resistance-specific CNAs were significantly associated with many tumorigenesis-related gene functions including ‘transcriptional misregulation in cancer’ (P=3.6×10-11), ‘cell differentiation’ (P=0.004), ‘PI3K-Akt signaling pathway’ (P=0.013), and ‘negative regulation of cell growth’ (P=0.023) (Supplementary Table 2).
