Bevacizumab, a humanized monoclonal antibody that was designed to target vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A), was first approved for breast cancer in the metastatic setting in 2008 based on the results of the E2100 Intergroup phase III trial comparing paclitaxel with or without the addition of bevacizumab as first-line therapy. This evidence concerns the gene VEGFA and breast carcinoma.
