It has been reported that HLA-B*51, the genetic risk factor most strongly associated with BD in several populations2, 4, 27, is associated with a moderately higher prevalence of genital ulcers, ocular manifestations, and skin manifestations, although it showed a decreased prevalence of gastrointestinal involvement in BD28 and no relationship with IBD29.
