Since chemotherapy associated NFkB-IL6-dependent inflammatory environment endowed non-stem cancer cells with stem-like features, aspirin which disrupted NFkB-IL6 feedback loop was combined with chemotherapy to prevent the induction of non-stem cancer cells into CSCs and to sensitize the tumor cells to chemotherapy, finally improving the recurrence-free survival of breast cancer patients [56]. This evidence concerns the gene NFKB1 and breast cancer.
