As we assumed, the level of miR-96 in HepG2 cells was upregulated drastically (approximately 2-fold) by the palmitate, but not oleate, treatment (Fig 2F), and the level of miR-96 was negatively correlated with the protein levels of INSR and IRS-1 (Fig 2A–2D), suggesting that the induction of miR-96 is closely associated with the development of insulin resistance in hepatocytes.
