In the context of microRNA and HCC, our previous results identified miR-193a as a negative regulator of urokinase type plasminogen activator (uPA) [22] and miR-23b as a negative co-regulator of uPA and MET (a receptor tyrosine kinase, RTK) [23], that are considered both unfavourable prognostic factors in HCC patients [24]. This evidence concerns the gene PLAU and hepatocellular carcinoma.
