The TOX3 gene encoding a TOX (thymocyte selection-associated high mobility group box)-family transcription factor [73], resides in a genomic region (16q12) that is commonly deleted in breast cancers and is associated with breast cancer risk [73,74,75,76,77,78,79] although paradoxical functional studies suggest that it likely to have context specific functions in different forms of breast cancer [80]. Here, TOX3 is linked to breast cancer.
