Based on the fact that during coronary artery disease (CAD) and atherosclerosis the blood tissue is damaged by several agents, like immune cells, it could be hypothesized that the pro-inflammatory cytokines like IL-6, IL-8 and TNF-α and anti-inflammatory cytokines like TGF-β may play key roles in the pathogenesis of the disease [6]. This evidence concerns the gene TGFB1 and coronary artery disorder.
