Our previous studies demonstrated that serum dehydrogenase, C-reactive protein, and albumin had independent prognostic value in nasopharyngeal carcinoma and NSCLC.[8–10] Cytokeratin 19 fragment (CYFRA21-1) is expressed in the cytoplasm of epithelial tumor cells, including NSCLC,[11] and Vollmer et al[12] found that serum CYFRA21-1 level was associated with tumor stage, patient prognosis, and surgical resection of tumors, and reflected tumor burden. This evidence concerns the gene CRP and neoplasm.
