AFP and hepatocellular carcinoma: A recent analysis of 108 HCC patients that were divided into three groups based on AFP levels (AFP-negative group (AFP ≤ 20 ng/mL), a lower AFP group (AFP = 20–400 ng/mL), and a higher AFP group (AFP > 400 ng/mL)) showed that the AFP-negative group had a lower post-operative two-year recurrence rate and higher 18- and 24-month survival rates than the other two groups (P < 0.05) [32].
