Hypoxia‐inducible factor 1 (HIF‐1), which is a heterodimeric transcription factor composed of α and β subunit (HIF‐1α and HIF‐1β, respectively) and whose activity is mainly dependent on the expression levels of the former, is recognized as a key factor associated with chemoresistance of lung cancer 4, with HIF‐1‐induced glycolysis playing an important role in promoting this chemoresistance 5.
