We cannot rule out the possibility that sequences in the IGFBP-5 C-terminus other than amino acids 201–218 affect the inhibition of angiogenesis and tumor suppression because expression of the entire 83 amino acids of the C-terminal domain in 2774 cells exerted a greater inhibitory effect on the expression of certain cytokines, including VEGF-A, IL-6, and TNF-α, and on tumor growth, than the synthetic peptide. This evidence concerns the gene IL6 and neoplasm.
