Quantification of cells producing the inflammatory cytokines TNF-α, IFN-γ and RANTES/CCL5 revealed a significant increase (4-, 4.5- and 3-fold, respectively) in dengue group compared to control (Fig 2 panels e, f and l), while the number of cells expressing the anti-inflammatory cytokines IL-10 and TGF-β did not change significantly in either group (Fig 2 panels g and k). The gene discussed is TNF; the disease is dengue disease.
