The results showed that although restraint of adolescent mothers or fathers reduced anxiety in both F1 males and females with increased time in open arm of EPM and central area of OFT, increased levels of hippocampal GR and BDNF mRNAs and decreased levels of serum cortisol (Fig. 4), the social instability stress increased offspring’s anxiety predominantly in F1 females with decreased time in open arm of EPM and central area of OFT, decreased levels of hippocampal GR and BDNF mRNAs and increased levels of serum cortisol compared to F1 from control unstressed parents.
